OK, so there is the chickens and pigs.
Come on, people. who wants to eat imported Canadian meat when we have pigs out here in NZ(for any of those who watched Campbell live today at seven o'clock on channel three, November the thirtieth).
And if we treat them better, with nice green open spaces, maybe their meat will taste better.(sorry for any vegetarians out there).
I mean, would you like it if you were stuffed in a cage with five other people, and you have to have your face near their sh** everyday or to put it nicer, poop.- in the chickens area at the mo.
And for both- they only have a short life, shorter than ours, so why can't we be decent humans and actually be nice to them for the few years, or even months that we're looking after them for?
Hopefully others will agree.

do tell, why? you make a point in a debate, not an agreement with no backing.

i agree with mollytime. if you're going to breed animals just to slaughter them you might as well let them have a happy life before it is ended. it just nicer that way.

it would be better not to eat them at all but that isn't going to happen.

hmmm
although there is the argument that the free range costs more, and that it takes more time whereas just breeding them is cheap, effective and although not pleasant can be sold for cheaper prices that ordinary citizens can afford?
So it's really a fight between moral incentives and economic incentives. and neither can take ground with the other o.o
Sooooo
my vote is that it's all in the outlook

just think about the fact that the meat will mature more. Like cheese. And it'll taste better. And then they look nicer too. Less scrawny, and they look happier. We went to Akaroa for the weekend last year, and we saw three chickens, running around on the last day, free range, and they ate apple halves, leaving the skin behind, and then they had dirt baths and even sunbathed on the deck!!! It was so funny. My sister took, like, fifty photos of them. Lol. They looked so happy.
And the eggs look so much nicer, and orangier. Pretty. Well, m,aybe not in that way, but you get what I mean.
